Place of the month: Grenoble and its three massifs
Chartreuse, Vercors and Belledonne in relief
A city surrounded by mountains
Grenoble settled at the bottom of a Y-shaped valley, where the Isère and the Drac meet. Three massifs surround it: the Chartreuse to the north, the Vercors to the west and the Belledonne range to the east.
Three mountains, three landscapes
Seen from above, each massif has its own character: the limestone cliffs of the Vercors and the Chartreuse, cut sharp, and the higher ridges of Belledonne, where the snow lingers. The city lies on the flat plain between the three.
Relief in several styles
It is an ideal place for the Relief rendering: the images below show the same area in the Realistic, Relief and Plaster styles. A series of three styles makes a fine set on a wall, as we suggest in Decorating with an image seen from above.
